"Motionless we traverse countries we fancy we see, and your thought, blending with the fiction, playing with the details, follows with the outline of the adventures." -Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

New leaf.

I have approximately seven months, give or take, before I hope to begin grad school (fingers crossed, everyone).  I don't intend to waste this "free time" by reading without thinking and reflecting. A blog has been born.

This won't be just any blog. I have made a deal with myself and now make a deal with anyone happening through this corner of cyberspace that I will be honest here, sometimes brutally so.  When I review a book, I intend to concentrate on whatever aspect of what the author had to say has captured my attention.  This means that often I will not spend time on "popular" subjects and characters within any given piece and may choose to ignore them altogether.  I do also promise that because of these guidelines, each entry holds true potential for being unique, hilarious, intriguing and, from time to time, haunting.

I also reserve the right to avoid reviewing books that did not interest me in slightest.  I may even hint at which titles have been left in the dust.

There will be days that my words will be forgettable.

Without further fanfare, I begin "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett.  I haven't read the Wiki... I think it's more interesting to go at a new book blindly!
